Founded in December 1961, Southern Illinois Transfer, Inc. was established to provide harbor services and barge fleeting operations in the Ste. Genevieve, Missouri region. What began with a single harbor boat, four employees, and a handful of leased fleeting locations has grown into one of the region’s most capable and respected river service providers.
Today, Southern Illinois Transfer operates:
- 10 harbor boats
- 70+ experienced employees
- 450+ permitted barge fleeting spaces
- Operations across the Mississippi and Kaskaskia Rivers
The company currently operates two public ports, provides fleeting services at eight strategic river locations, manages multiple customer-owned docks, constructs 1,600 horsepower harbor boats, and delivers reliable regional towing services tailored to customer needs.
Southern Illinois Transfer proudly supports all Captain Terminals river locations, providing the marine backbone that strengthens multimodal efficiency.
